The Good, The Bad, and The Weird trailer online
I can't understand a word, but this trailer looks fantastic. Joheunnom nabbeunnom isanghannom aka The Good, The Bad, and The Weird comes from Ji-woon Kim who directs and co-writes alongside Min-suk Kim.
The Good, The Bad, and The Weird is the story of three Korean outlaws in Manchuria during the 1930's and their many crosses with the Japanese army and Chinese and Russian bandits.
Ji-woon Kim also wrote and directed A Bittersweet Life, A Tale of Two Sisters, and Three Extremes II, so there's some interesting and great looking films in his past.
The Good, The Bad, and The Weird stars Woo-sung Jung as The Good, Byung-hun Lee as The Bad, and Kang-ho Song as The Weird. Byung-hun starred in A Bittersweet Life, Three Extremes and J.S.A.: Joint Security Area, while Kang-ho you may remember from The Host (Filmstalker review), Sympathy for Lady Vengeance (Filmstalker review), Memories of a Murder, Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance, and J.S.A.: Joint Security Area. Definitely a few good films between them.
The Good, The Bad, and The Weird story may sound strange, and it looks a little like an Asian western, but when you read some comments about screenings to date you'll see people are either loving it or hating it and one person on IMDB describes it as a Western Korean version of Pirates of the Caribbean. However, plot may well be an issue.
That said, the trailer looks like a lot of fun, and the cinematography looks superb. You know, I'm pretty excited about seeing this as it's something different, but as yet the release dates show South Korea as July and France as a 10th of December release, where's the rest of the world then?
