Brett Ratner wants Guitar Hero film
There are many video games which lend themselves to film versions, few of them have ever been pulled off though. Brett Ratner has set his sights on making a film of Guitar Hero.
It doesn't strike me as a game that would lend itself to a film. And Ratner's plot idea hasn't changed my mind.
Guitar Hero has become massively popular. I've only ever played the demo, but it was fun enough. There's no guns or footballs involved, which probably explains my slight indifference! Loads of people love it though, and one of those is Brett Ratner. He's been talking about how much he loves the game, and what he'd like to do with the film.
I love Guitar Hero and I think it’s a part of pop culture. I would love to do a Guitar Hero movie, if Activision would ever let me. I’m trying to convince them, but why would you have a movie screw up such a huge franchise? Not that I would make a bad movie. So that would be cool, to do a Guitar Hero movie...It could be about a kid from a small town who dreams of being a rock star and he wins the Guitar Hero competition. One of these dreams-[come-true] kind of concepts.
Confidence obviously isn't an issue with him. Sounds a bit cheesy to me. Surely he could come up with something better than that. The quote comes from Game-reviews through Movies Online.
So would you want to see a Guitar Hero film? Can you come up with something other than Ratner's idea?
