Could Clooney be the Lone Ranger?

GeorgeClooney.jpgJust yesterday Johnny Depp appeared at the Disney showcase, and we found out he had not one, not two, but three new films lined up. One of which was playing Tonto in a Lone Ranger film. Now a rumour is out that George Clooney is interested in the role of The Lone Ranger.

Those two together in a Lone Ranger film would be quite something. What do you reckon?

We know Johnny Depp is playing Tonto in this new Lone Ranger film, but as of yesterday no one was rumoured for The Lone Ranger himself. Now AICN claim to have some inside information that George Clooney is very interested in the role. The rumour comes from Electric Dreams who say:

Word as of now is that George Clooney has shown a lot of interest in the role of the Lone Ranger, and the studio's been talking to him about it. Previously it was rumored that Nic Cage was up for the role, but that rumor died a long time ago. Clooney's name has come up quite a number of times since.

It's all chatter at this stage, but it definitely could work. Although Clooney's last attempt at a masked crusader didn't go down too well. Would Clooney be a good choice for The Lone Ranger, or is there someone more suitable?
