Maguire set for Spiderman 4 and 5

TobeyMaguire.jpgLooks like Tobey Maguire is even closer to being confirmed for the next two Spiderman films. Turns out though, that due to family commitments, Maguire wants a little more free time.

Spiderman 4 and 5 have taken up a fair amount of column inches so far. Mostly rumours of casting changes, villains and whether Sam Raimi would be back. We could be close to out first publicly confirmed cast member.

We recently found out, that Tobey Maguire and Sam Raimi had pretty much signed up for Spiderman 4 and 5. With both films being shot back to back. Nothing is confirmed publicly yet, but it looked like Maguire was holding out for a better deal. It looks like that better deal has come through, and it's not just better money.

Times Online, through Cinema Blend, say Tobey Maguire has negotiated a unique deal. He will shoot Spiderman 4 and 5 back to back, as long as he has "family time" to spend with his daughter. The time spent away from his family looks to have been a deal breaker for Maguire. He aims to have early mornings and evenings off during filming.

Guess this is what he was holding out for. Can't blame the guy either. I wonder if it will affect the film in anyway, only having him for certain periods of time. Maybe these two films will be the last with Maguire as Spiderman.

I hope this works out. Spiderman 3 was a bit of a let down in my eyes, but not as bad as everyone made it out to be at the time. I think having Tobey Maguire and Sam Raimi is the obvious way to go, otherwise I don't think the franchise could be as strong with a new director, but mainly a new lead (going by past mistakes.

Another two films should do the trick.

Well the word is that Raimi was somewhat swamped by producer pressure for the third, and that pressure included a few more villains.

Perhaps they've learned their lesson and Raimi has negotiated the freedom he's had with the first two.
