Stalked: Burger and LaBeouf, McGregor and Clooney

Neil Burger and Shia LaBeouf team up on The Dark Fields...

Ewan McGregor and George Clooney team up on The Men Who Stare at Goats...

Sam Riley will lead Géla Babluani's remake of his own film, 13 Tzameti...

Neil Burger, director of The Illusionist, has Shia LaBeouf lined up for a film called The Dark Fields (Play.com / Amazon.co.uk / Amazon.com) which is based on the novel by Alan Glynn. The story, from Coming Soon, tells us that the novel is based in the future where you can get a pill that makes you smarter, and Burger says that it won't be handled in the usual science fiction way.

Ewan McGregor is in negotiations to star with George Clooney in the film Men Who Stare at Goats adapted from the book (Play.com / Amazon.co.uk / Amazon.com) by the Guardian columnist Jon Ronson about Iraq and the war on terror. The book is about a reporter who finds a man that claims to be a former psychic spy that has been reactivated by the U.S. government after the war on terror was announced, and his journey following him through Iraq. The story from Yahoo News tells us that this hints at the supposedly real psychic unit in the army that do just this.

Sam Riley is lined up to star in a remake of 13 Tzameti, which unsurprisingly will be titled 13. Once again the film is being written and directed by Géla Babluani, he did the same for the original. Variety through Movie Fanatics have the story and reveal that Babluani plans to significantly change some of the story, he says:

"While the original was deliberately not contextualized in a specific time or place, his remake project will unmistakably be set in contemporary America...the movie is about a game. So the rules of the game will essentially stay the same. But I really want to introduce new characters and situations."

The story is an interesting one, a man struggling for cash is repairing someone's roof and overhears a conversation that involves a deal and a lot of money. The man who accepted the deal dies, and so the man struggling for cash decides to pretend to be him to carry out the deal and make the money. However the deal starts to change direction and it begins to feel he's being led somewhere else.
