Stallone as an older Batman?
The wait for news on the next Batman film has thrown up another gem of speculation. This time the source is Frank Miller, and he would like to see Sylvester Stallone as an older Batman.
Now that would be a big departure from the current films. Interesting idea, or madness?
Christopher Nolan, DC and Warner Bros, are still to confirm plans for the next Batman film. This has led to all kinds of rumours, mostly involving casting. Cher, Angelina Jolie and Johnny Depp have all been mentioned.
Now Frank Miller, the writer of The Dark Knight Returns, has voiced who he'd like to play an older Batman in a film version of his comic book. It's Sylvester Stallone. Miller is quoted in The Los Angeles Times, through Cinema Blend.
Just that mouth of his, the scowl and the way it would look in a mask...I loved Rocky Balboa. This wounded warrior, that's what Batman is in Dark Knight Returns.
I haven't read the comic book, but it does sound like an entirely different Batman. I believe it has Batman as a retired alcoholic. I'm not suggesting it's where the franchise will go next. But it does beg the question, if they did make it into a film, would Stallone make a good Batman? If not who would?
