Sam Raimi on Spiderman 4 and 5
Sam Raimi has been talking about Spiderman 4 and 5. He covers what's happening with Kirsten Dunst coming back, filming both back to back and the all important villain.
After many rumours it's good to see something concrete happening with Spiderman.
Sam Raimi was talking to MTV Splashpage about Spiderman 4 and 5. He and Tobey Maguire are back, but Kirsten Dunst isn't a sure thing yet. She seemed a little confused as to wether she was coming back last time she spoke. And Raimi doesn't seem any more sure if she'll be back:
Kirsten, I’d love to work with her again. I hope she’ll be written into it. I couldn’t imagine making one without her, and I think she’s an important part of the movies
Sounds like she isn't in it at the minute, but with no script finished there is still time. Raimi says he is getting excited about returning to Spiderman though, well that is if the script is up to scratch:
I’m really excited about Spider-Man, and I’m hoping to direct it. I don’t have a script yet, but production would start probably by March of 2010, I’m guessing. It sounds like a long time away, but we need a script first, and a lot of pre-production has to take place.
We already know that they are thinking of filming both Spiderman 4 and 5 back to back, Raimi sounds up for the challenge. But has he mentioned that it's down to the non existant script yet?
That had been talked about. It’s Amy Pascal’s decision. I don’t think it has been decided yet, and she’s the one that’s really going to make that decision; I’m really curious myself. It would be a real endurance test, probably only Peter Jackson knows how hard something like that would be. If Tobey and me, and all the producers, like the story for two pictures and Amy wanted to do it, then we would do it. It just hasn’t been written yet.
Assuming Raimi gets a script for both that he is willing to direct, there is one character he would like to see more of. He'd like to see Dylan Baker back as The Lizard.
He’s a great actor, and I think one day The Lizard’s story will be told. I don’t know if it will be this one or not. I just don’t know. I’m definitely hoping to work with Dylan in the picture. I just don’t know who the villain is yet.
For a guy who has directed all three previous Spiderman films, they don't seem to be consulting him much. Doesn't sound like he has a say in much of anything. Let's hope they hand him a script he's happy with.
Do you want Kirsten Dunst back? Do you want The Lizard in the fourth or fifth film? Or should they be looking elsewhere for a villain.
