After Frank Darabont left Law Abiding Citizen, F. Gary Gray may be taking over. Law Abiding Citizen stars Jamie Foxx as a man who turns into a vigilante when his wife and child are killed. Rob Reiner is directing again. His last film was in 2007, but he is to direct Travel Writing. It's based on the novel of the same name by Peter Ferry. It is a love story set against the backdrop of an English teacher's amateur investigation into a traffic fatality. The news is from Variety.
Taylor Hackford is to direct Merchant of Shanghai. It will be a film telling the story of Silas Hardoon. Hardoon immigrated to Shanghai from Iraq, and was an opium dealer and property magnate. The news is from Variety.
Peter Weir is also directing again, having last brought us Master and Commander. He is directing The Way Back. Variety say he also wrote the script for the film, which is based on the book The Long Walk: The True Story of a Trek to Freedom. Amazon has the synopsis as follows:
