Stalked: F Gary Gray, Rob Reiner, Taylor Hackford, Peter Weir

Four directors, and four new projects.

F Gary Gray could be talking on Law Abiding Citizen.

Rob Reiner is doing Travel Writer.

Taylor Hackford is directing the Merchant of Shanghai.

And Peter Weir is on The Way Back.

After Frank Darabont left Law Abiding Citizen, F. Gary Gray may be taking over. Law Abiding Citizen stars Jamie Foxx as a man who turns into a vigilante when his wife and child are killed. Gerard Butler plays a lawyer who is a one of the man's targets. Gray has previously brought us The Italian Job and Be Cool. The news is from Jo Blo.

Rob Reiner is directing again. His last film was in 2007, but he is to direct Travel Writing. It's based on the novel of the same name by Peter Ferry. It is a love story set against the backdrop of an English teacher's amateur investigation into a traffic fatality. The news is from Variety.

Taylor Hackford is to direct Merchant of Shanghai. It will be a film telling the story of Silas Hardoon. Hardoon immigrated to Shanghai from Iraq, and was an opium dealer and property magnate. The news is from Variety.

Peter Weir is also directing again, having last brought us Master and Commander. He is directing The Way Back. Variety say he also wrote the script for the film, which is based on the book The Long Walk: The True Story of a Trek to Freedom. Amazon has the synopsis as follows:

First published in 1956, an account of a young Polish cavalry officer who was arrested by the Russians, tortured and sentenced to 25 years forced labour. Describes his 3 month journey from Moscow to the prison camp in Siberia, his escape with 6 companions and their journey across the Gobi desert to Tibet and freedom.
