Joaquin Phoenix confirms retirement
Only a few days ago we heard that Joaquin Phoenix could be retiring from acting. It was all a bit vague at the time, but it's now been confirmed.
Phoenix was talking at the premiere of his film Two Lovers, which will be his last before heading off to concentrate on music.
Joaquin Phoenix was talking to a reporter a few days ago, and said he was planning on giving up acting. The reporter seemed to think he was joking, which didn't amuse Phoenix. But now at the premiere of Two Lovers he has said that it is his last film. The news is from Variety:
I think it's just moving on. It's rediscovering something else. It's like greener pastures, you know what I mean? And so, I'm just going to try and like, I'll just be doing the other thing. ... Hopefully, I will emotionally impact you with that, as well.
The other thing in question is music, apparently he has been directing music videos for the last few years. Two Lovers has Phoenix play a man stuck between the woman his parents want him to marry, and his volatile but beautiful neighbour.
I haven't seen all of his films, but I enjoyed the ones I did. Signs and Gladiator being two that come to mind. Will you be sad to see the last of Joaquin Phoenix the actor?
