New Planet of the Apes film?

PlanetoftheApes.jpgCould we be seeing another Planet of the Apes film? That's the rumour out there. There is a script doing the rounds at Fox which could lead to a prequel film of sorts.

The script would pretty much be a remake of Conquest of the Planet of the Apes.

The last Planet of the Apes film, had Mark Wahlberg starring in Tim Burton's version. Now rumour has it that a script is in existence, which would tell the story of the beginning of the apes revolt.

First Showing.net says the script is a remake of Conquest of the Planet of the Apes. IMDB describes it as follows.

In a futuristic society where ape slavery has taken over the world, Caesar, the son of the late simians Cornelius and Zira, surfaces after almost 20 years in hiding out from the authorities, and prepares for a slave revolt against humanity.

I've only ever watched the first two, and I wasn't a fan of the second. And I can't remember being blown away by Tim Burton's version. Is there a demand for another Planet of the Apes film? Would you want one?

I wasn't a fan of the second film, it was basically a re-run of the original, with some strange telepathic-evolved underground humans (however, these are kind of alluded to in the fourth movie).

I highly recommend watching movies three and four, but you can skip number five if you want. The third and fourth movies are set on earth and, like the original movie, brings up a lot of social commentary - mainly racism. If they didn't make movie number two and number five, then it would be one of my favourite trilogies.

I didn't mind Tim Burton's Planet of the Apes the first time I watched it, but after watching all five of the originals, I really didn't care for it. As to another POTA movie, I don't mind, although I think it'll be watered down compared to the originals.

I'll try and check the others out. I wasn't aware there were so many films in the series until I was writing the post. Not a surprise I guess that they are thinking about remaking one again.
