Roth directing Inglorious Basterds
It seems that Eli Roth has taken over directing duties for Inglorious Basterds from Quentin Tarantino. Okay, calm down, it's only for a short film within the film and not the entire film.
Roth is apparently directing a Nazi propaganda film that will be showing within Tarantino's Inglorious Basterds.
I actually was surprised when Eli Roth was set to star in the film and not have any hand in directing, so perhaps this is the hand off he needed to take on the role. Mind you, acting in a Quentin Tarantino film is a huge draw anyway isn't it?
The Nazi propoganda film, according to Tarantino Archives through /Film, is starring Daniel Brühl as a sniper and a group of GI's on a suicide mission.
Now that sounds surprisingly like the set-up for Inglorious Basterds, so I'm a little confused. Is the Propoganda film going to be showing a Nazi sniper having a pop at the Basterds, or is it going to be played out as coincidence that the two are very close stories?
Regardless you can all rest easy, Roth isn't taking over the directing of the film, instead he's just filming this short within the film. I wonder how much of it we're going to get to see?
