A Christmas Tale (Un conte de Noël) trailer online

UnContedeNoel.jpgNow here's a little more class on the trailer front, Un conte de Noël aka A Christmas Tale has already been released in France, Belgium and Denmark, and is due for release in Canada on my Birthday, Norway the day after Xmas and Italy and the UK in January.

The film stars a list of strong French actors but two who are particularly recognisable to western audiences, and this is what drew me in instantly, Catherine Deneuve and Mathieu Amalric.

The story is recognisable, it's the idea of a dysfunctional family coming together to face their issues and deal with their problems, and it's often an interesting and successful set-up.

A Christmas Tale (Un conte de Noël) tells the story of the family Vuillard, a family who have a history of mental and physical illness, including the mother who is dying of cancer, estrangement, self harm, and plenty of loss and heartache.

Come Christmas time three youngest members of the family organise a scheme to bring all the family back together with the hope that they can reconcile their differences and have a “normal” Christmas.

Some hope, and with the cast it carries it looks like it could be an interesting film. Here's the trailer, see what you think. That Bond villain doesn't look so creepy now. I'm interested for that very reason though, some strong French actors, a character based story, and Catherine Deneuve and Mathieu Amalric.
