Filmstalker: Update: Beverly Hills Cop 4 story details

One of the endless sequels/reboots underway is Beverly Hills Cop 4. Eddie Murphy is back, and Brett Ratner is directing. But what can we expect?

Well we have an idea now, as story details for the film have appeared online.

[Richard] They appeared online and then we're all getting hit with solicitors/lawyers letters to tell us to take them down since we're illegally reproducing the script. Now there's a nod to the truth if every I heard it!

So far all we knew about Beverly Hills Cop 4, was that Eddie Murphy was returning and Brett Ratner would be directing. And there have also been rumours of a PG-13 film, not quite what you'd expect from one of those films.

Now Latino Review have the story details for the latest installment. And it turns out Murphy is not impressed with it just yet. The main story details go something like this:

This letter is being written to you on behalf of Paramount Pictures Corporation (hereinafter "Paramount"). Paramount is the owner of rights in and to the Beverly Hills Cop motion picture series, including but not limited to the screenplay for Beverly Hills Cop IV (hereinafter collectively referred to as "Paramount Properties"). No one is authorized to copy, reproduce, distribute, or otherwise use the Paramount Properties without the express written permission of Paramount.

Despite Paramount's clear rights to the Paramount Properties, Paramount has learned that you are reproducing, displaying and distributing portions of the Beverly Hills Cop IV script on your website at http://www.filmstalker.co.uk/archives/2008/12/beverly_hills_cop_4_story_deta.html. You are hereby put on notice that the reproduction, display and/or distribution by you of Paramount Properties constitutes copyright infringement.

[Richard] Yes, that's the bad news, what little we had has been ordered off the site by Paramount, which is interesting as it suggests the story was true! So if you caught any of it, you should be pleased with yourself, first for visiting such a great and independent film site, but also that you saw it before the lawyers came.

If you put this script, the movie un'incasso likely to do as disappointing 3. In BHC4 must put the pair Axel-Billy-Bogomil-Taggart, is the plot must be that Billy is investigating a drug trafficking has corrupted the police want to kill him, but we do not succeed, and Billy asks for help to Axel, and his old companion, John Taggart and Andrew Bogomil. And the four returned to the couple as 1 and 2. Must be an action-comedy. I want ago in Detroit Axel pair with Jeffrey Friedman. In the cast are to bring Eddie Murphy, Judge Reinhold, John Ashton, Ronny Cox and Paul Reiser.

That the script of Beverly Hills Cop IV is changed, and I agree with you, because I think the movie shouldn’t have as a plot that Billy fall over the 20th floor of the police of Los Angeles’s building, and Axel Foley shouldn’t make a couple with the new policeman Goodwin. In my point of view with this plot the movie risk poor takings, like the 3rd movie. In my opinion in the movie should be the original cast of the 1st and 2nd movies, with Judge Reinhold, John Ashton, Ronny Cox and Paul Reiser. I believe the script should be that Billy, that take part in special unit DDOJSIOC (Deputy Director of Joint Special Inter Operational Command), find a criminal organisation implicated in drug traffic, and with them the police department of Los Angeles co-operate. But this organisation put a bomb in Billy’s car, it explode, but Billy has a miraculous escape, and then receive death threat, and for this reason he ask an help to Axel, to his old friend, John Taggart, that is retired in Arizona, and to the chief of police of Beverly Hills, Andrew Bogomil. Finally they become a good team, like the 1st and 2nd movies. And I would that at the start of the movie, Axel in Detroit make a couple with Jeffrey Friedman, his friend in the first two movies. So Axel help Billy in his investigation, they find that the chief of Los Angeles’s police is implicated in the drug traffic. The movie should be an action-comedy, like the 2nd movie, where there are quite a lot of shooting, and the end should be that Axel, Billy, Taggart and Bogomil go to the police department of L.A. and start a shoot-out. The movie should be like that, I don’t want that became horrible like the 3rd one. I would want that it could be funny, that he wear the Detroit Lion’s jacket, that there is the original music of the movie and that Axel is the chief of Detroit police.
