State of Play is the Hollywood adaptation of the BBC miniseries and it carries an all star cast too, with Ben Affleck, Russell Crowe, Rachel McAdams, Jason Bateman, Robin Wright Penn, Helen Mirren, Jeff Daniels, and so on.

It sounds a brilliant cast and the BBC series of State of Play was superb. What adds something to this version is that Matthew Michael Carnahan wrote the script and Kevin Macdonald directed, that's The Last King of Scotland (Filmstalker review)director.

With all that stacking for it you'd be hard pressed to say this wasn't going to be looking strong, and that's exactly what the trailer says too, although I can't be done with Crowe and long hair!
