Rourke and Rockwell for Iron Man 2

IronMan_FinalPoster2.jpgBoth Mickey Rourke and Sam Rockwell are in talks for Iron Man 2 we hear today, and that should raise expectations for the second film instantly, with Rourke set to play a villain for the film while Rockwell plays a business rival of Stark's, in effect another villain, just not throwing punches and trading loose weaponry in a different manner.

It's another round of big name casting for a major film, and another lighter role for the much in demand Rourke who is really starting to pick up a pace on his career.

You always love a bad story turned good, and I really do hope Mickey Rourke keeps up this forward trend. Appearances in Sylvester Stallone's The Expendables and Iron Man 2 would certainly up his profile even more, but he has to keep putting in roles and performances like he has in The Wrestler, which I'm desperate to see.

As for Sam Rockwell, well he rarely puts a foot wrong does he? Even when he's leaping into mainstream roles such as Charlie's Angels, he's still a great deal of fun and grabs the role by the horns.

So Iron Man 2 is picking up on the casting, and that's good news too. We have the regulars on board, well almost all of them, with Gwyneth Paltrow and Robert Downey Jr. returning, but we'll see Terrence Howard replaced by Don Cheadle.

According to the report from http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/hr/content_display/film/news/e3i41ac0111ebdf30101254593ea5db55bc, Rourke will be playing...

“...a tattooed Russian heavy named Ivan who becomes Whiplash, a man with deadly, technologically enhanced coils.”

While Rockwell would be taking on the part of...

“...Justin Hammer, a multibillionaire businessman and a rival of industrialist Anthony Stark.”

Sounds good, but please don't put too many villains in the film, it's a common mistake, especially with this studio and producer.
