Scott Pilgrim vs. the World casting
Edgar Wright's Scott Pilgrim vs. the World has just gained a few new cast members seriously filling out the main cast, with a number of the ex's already being named.
The additions announced today are Chris Evans, Brandon Routh, Brie Larson, Mae Whitman, Ellen Wong, Anna Kendrick, Mark Webber, Alison Pill, Johnny Simmons, Aubrey Plaza, and Satya Bhabha.
Michael Cera has already joined in the lead role as Scott Pilgrim who meets the woman of his dreams, Ramona V. Flowers played by Mary Elizabeth Winstead, and discovers that the only way he can get her to fall in love with him is to defeat her past seven evil boyfriends. No small task.
According to The Hollywood Reporter the casting pans out like this: Chris Evans will play the second evil boyfriend called Lucas Lee, a pro skateboarder-turned-movie star. Brandon Routh plays the third evil boyfriend called Todd Ingram, a rocker with vegan psychic powers. Mae Whitman plays the fourth ex, a girl called Roxy Richter who happens to be a half-ninja. Satya Bhabha plays an ex-boyfriend who can summon demon hipster girls.
Brie Larson plays Pilgrim's ex-girlfriend called Envy Adams, who he still harbours some feelings for, despite wanting Winstead. Ellen Wong plays Pilgrim's girlfriend when he meets Winstead, a woman called Knives Chau, and Pilgrim is even luckier to have an on and off girlfriend played by Aubrey Plaza. Anna Kendrick plays Pilgrim's sister.
Wow. Having never read the comic I'm thinking that this all sounds rather insane, but also rather interesting, not just for Edgar Wright being behind the camera, but for some of the main cast names.
Has anyone read the comic of Scott Pilgrim vs. the World and can voice a stronger opinion on the casting and perhaps the story?
