The Shrek spin-off Puss in Boots has a writer, god only knows why, but it seems we all want to see a full length feature about this character, never mind that Shrek and Donkey were the real stars of the Shrek franchise. According to The Hollywood Reporter Tom Wheeler has been hired to write the film, adding another name to the growing list of writers on the project. For those of you who don't know Wheeler he's a television writer. Boy, does anyone think that this is a good idea? Come on.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan is joining Hilary Swank in The Resident for the resurrected Hammer Films. Antti J. Jokinen is directing the film that The Hollywood Reporter tells us will follow a doctor, played by Swank, who moves into a loft apartment where strange events make her think that she's being watched, and her charming landlord, played by Morgan, is rather too obsessed with her. Jokinen has previously directed music videos for some top selling female singers.

Viola Davis, Bruce McGill, Leslie Bibb, Colm Meaney and Regina Hall have all joined the thriller Law Abiding Citizen according to Variety alongside Jamie Foxx and Gerard Butler. With F. Gary Gray directing the film I'm really starting to think this could be something rather interesting. It follows a man who, some ten years after his wife and daughter have been brutally murdered, returns to get justice from the assistant D.A. who led the case against the killers, presumably unsuccessfully according to the man's ideas of justice.

Both Jason Segel and Emily Blunt are close to being signed for another adaptation of the classic story Gulliver's Travels according to The Hollywood Reporter. Rob Letterman is directing the film that stars Jack Black as Gulliver. It tells the story of a travel writer called Lemuel Gulliver, who while on an assignment to the Bermuda Triangle, is transported to the hidden island of Lilliput, home to a population of industrious yet tiny people. If both sign, Blunt will be playing the island's princess and lover of another of the island's inhabitants, Horatio, who befriends the great Gulliver. Well that one's washing over me.

Channing Tatum is set to star in an adaptation of the David Morrell novel The Brotherhood of the Rose (Amazon.co.uk / Amazon.com) with Dito Montiel rewriting the adaptation from Adam Cozad, and also directing the film according to Variety.

There's a six minute clip online for the upcoming film The Uninvited, the remake of A Tale of Two Sisters. It stars Elizabeth Banks who I just watched in Zack & Miri Make a Porno which really surprised me, so it's a bit of a kick to see her playing this sort of character. The clip looks okay, but I'm not getting anything of real excitement from it, we've seen this sort of thing before haven't we? You can see it over at Yahoo Movies [Flash/HD] through Coming Soon.
