Stalker's Top Ten 2008: Firebug Productions: The worst

10FSReel.jpgSo onto the third of Firebug's Stalker's Top Tens of 2008, or should I say bottom tens. For this is his list of the worst films he's seen in 2008, a list which includes a film I'm about to review and give away copies for!

I'm sure some of you will be in disagreement with a few of these choices, for while people say film is subjective, there's no bigger example of that than with comedy in film, and there are a fair few comedies in his worst list.

Over to Firebug:

Now for my list of the 10 worst movies of 2008 in no particular order.

Meet The Spartans
Clearly meant for the American audience with a lot of the jokes relating to the American way of life, namely their advertising of TV. Has put me off ever watching anything made by these people ever again.

Semi-Pro
For a movie starring Will Ferrell it was incredibly lame. Really just not funny at all.

You Don't Mess With The Zohan
Was this meant to be a comedy? Because I don't remember laughing once during the entire movie.

The Love Guru
Yet another horribly unfunny and clichéd movie from Mike Myers

Get Smart
If you liked the TV series then don't watch this movie. If you have seen the trailer for this movie then don't watch it, you've already seen the funniest parts of it. If you can call them funny.

Prom Night
Truly horrendous remake of what I've read was already a very bad movie to begin with.

The Strangers
Apparently this was a horror movie, guess they forgot to put the scary parts in it. That being said the masks worn in it did look pretty freaky and cool.

Eagle Eye
Looked pretty cool in the trailer but having watched the movie it seems to me to be the biggest load of rubbish ever made. Are we really expected to believe that everything that happened in it is possible?

Run Fatboy Run
With the success of Shaun Of The Dead and Hot Fuzz it seemed like this would be another hit for Simon Pegg. It wasn't. There was only one funny scene in the whole movie that involved guys hitting each other in the proverbial and that's hardly original.

Mama's Boy
I hate Jon Heder with a passion. Ever since seeing him in Napoleon Dynamite I have not been able to stand him (although I will say he suited the role in Blades Of Glory). Again this is a comedy that is incredibly unfunny.

It's actually interesting that it's all comedy and horror, apart from Eagle Eye which is allegedly a thriller. It's also a little surprising that for all the media and Internet sites shout about the failure of the comic book adaptations why there's not any of them in there either, a skewed view on the media's side perhaps?

Horror is often described as the easiest film to make, and comedy is so subjective, particularly when you're talking about the poor American style comedy which seems to focus on bodily functions and sexual jokes.

What do you think of the list then? Are you in agreement? Has American comedy been that bad this year?

If you want to look at the other lists that have been sent in, then just head to the Stalker's Top Ten section.
