The Green Hornet stalled?
The Green Hornet film starring Seth Rogen has already had a few difficulties in getting going. It took a while to get the go ahead, and then Stephen Chow left his directing duties.
Now it could be that the film is stalled all together, following Stephen Chow's change of heart.
After nearly a year of nothing much happening, The Green Hornet finally got the green light in Summer last year. Seth Rogen was playing Britt Reid/The Green Hornet. And then Stephen Chow joined, not only as Kato but also as director.
Trouble came in December last year though, when Stephen Chow said he would no longer be directing the film. The "creative differences" didn't stop him from hanging around to play Kato though. Now hitfix, through /Film, say the film is going no where fast:
Ever since Stephen Chow started to waffle about his participation in the film, I've been hearing rumors that there were major hesitations at Sony. Then at Sundance, I heard several people say that the film was off completely. I spoke this afternoon with a source close to the film, and while they didn't call it completely dead, they did say it is "highly unlikely" that the film will shoot in 2009 at all.
So we could be waiting even longer to see The Green Hornet in action. Stephen Chow did seem like an ideal candidate to direct the film. If they don't find a suitable replacement soon, the film really will be stalled. Are you still excited about The Green Hornet, or is all this waiting around taking the shine off?
