Ewan McGregor for Electric Slide

EwanMcGregor.jpgEwan McGregor and Carey Mulligan are in negotiations to lead Electric Slide, a film based on the true story of Eddie Dodson a high-end furniture salesman in L.A. who turned to bank robbery to keep his celebrity lifestyle.

What is amazing about the true story is that he went onto rob some seventy-two banks without being caught!

If the negotiations went well Ewan McGregor would play Dodson, while Carey Mulligan would play his girlfriend who was one of the reasons that Dodson kept robbing banks, in order to impress her.

Tristan Patterson wrote the script for Electric Slide based on an article in Gear magazine called The Yankee Bandit: The Life and Times of Eddie Dodson, World's Great Bank Robber, and Patterson will make his directorial debut with the film, so it could be a bit of a risk. The story comes from

However saying that the story is a strong one, Dodson was a man who is already used to his high-end furniture business attracting the stars and bringing him to the celebrity lifestyle, a lifestyle that led him to want more. Then led him to rob some seventy-two banks and despite the FBI efforts to try and catch him.

Sounds a great project for McGregor, if the risk of the first time director is something he’ll take on, and looking back on his career I think it’s something he might.
