The Losers begins casting
There's good news and bad news for fans of the excellent The Losers comic book, a story that is essentially a modern day, darker, realistic A-Team. The good news is that it looks like casting has begun and Jeffrey Dean Morgan is in talks to star in the film.
The bad news you ask? Well it's still lined up for Sylvain White to direct.
Originally the announcement was that Peter Berg, who had written the script, was set to direct The Losers, then it became McG, and worse still news came that the director was to be Tim Story of Fantastic Four, at that stage my heart sank.
Then it got even worse with the news that Sylvain White was on board. Who's he? Well White is responsible for directing I'll Always Know What You Did Last Summer, Stomp the Yard, and is currently directing Castlevania.
Yes, now you can see why my heart sank, from Peter Berg to Sylvian White.
The story is about a group of covert contract CIA black operations agents who are set-up on a foreign mission in order to kill them and put the blame of the failed mission onto them. However they survived and come back to the U.S. with plans to find those that set them up and kill them, and at the same time attack the CIA.
Now that's the A-Team story I want to see, and The Losers in comic book form is a pretty good story that you can see from the outset would look great on the big screen.
However I'd wonder if it's going to be as good now that Sylvian White is heading up the film? Well there has to be hope for it if Jeffrey Dean Morgan is in talks to star in the film surely? Coming from Zack Snyder's Watchmen either he's caught the comic book adaptation bug and is playing any character he can, or the film has potential, at least the script does.
What The Hollywood Reporter story does say is that the script from Peter Berg seems to be the one that is making it to the final film, so at least that's something.
