Clips 'n' Pics: Máncora, Pandorum, Sleep Dealer, X-Men: Origins: Wolverine all in Quicktime HD
There are a couple of trailers online for films that I've reviewed, that we've seen before in non-high definition, and for films we're waiting to see, namely Máncora (Filmstalker review), Pandorum, Sleep Dealer and X-Men: Origins: Wolverine.
Although we've seen the X-Men Origins: Wolverine trailer before, it's worth picking up again with the high-definition version. However I haven't seen these trailers for Máncora and Sleep Dealer, and it's worth seeing the Pandorum trailer in Quicktime high definition again.
X-Men Origins: Wolverine, well what is there to say about this? I think the action might look a little over the top. The desire for a huge action sequence is overpowering the story and a grounding of reality, giving rise to the possibility that Newton's Laws of Motion could be totally overridden by Wolverine's skeleton, and that an exploding vehicle could catapult Wolverine into the air and onto the top of a helicopter, somehow flying just beneath the blades. Yeah.
Oh and there's the point that there are umpteen mutants in here, and we've got an actioned up X-Men prequel. Hopefully there's room for Wolverine in there. You can see the trailer at Apple Trailers [P:S:M:L:480p:720p:1080p].
Pandorum. Well we've seen the trailer for this already, but here's the high definition version. The film from Christian Alvart starring Dennis Quaid and Ben Foster looks and sounds good. Let's hope that Alvart isn't destroyed by the media because he started his film career with a film with a clever twist and no one is intelligent enough to look past that on his following films. Hey, it's happened before. You can see the trailer over at Apple Trailers [P:S:M:L:480p:720p:1080p].
I'm not a fan of this new trailer for Sleep Dealer, it's trying far too hard to be a big budget action orientated Hollywood film, and I think this trailer will make people disappointed when they arrive at the cinema to watch it. Those who know what they're heading for with Sleep Dealer won't be so I've heard, a film that's been doing quite well at Festivals. Máncora (Filmstalker review) is a film that I saw a while back and for the most part enjoyed. It has failings, but also some surprises, not only with Enrique Murciano from Without a Trace, but also the incredibly gorgeous Elsa Pataky as well as the story. It tells the story of a young man looking to find an escape from the pressures of life and goes away with his stepsister and her husband for a road trip, slowly they get to know each other again and he and his stepsister grow closer together as events around them grow more serious and he finds there's no escaping the realities of life for long.
