Murray in Ghostbusters 3

Ghostbusters.jpgIt's unbelievable but it may just be true, finally they've persuaded Bill Murray to return to the Ghostbusters franchise in Ghostbusters 3, the film that plans to hand over to a newer, younger Ghostbusters crew.

That's probably the reason right there, as it had been said before that he would only come back as a voice in the videogame or cartoon, or perhaps even as a cameo, and that may just be what he gets, a rather elongated cameo.

Harold Ramis revealed that Gene Stupnitsky and Lee Eisenberg are writing the script for the third Ghostbusters as he spoke and that he, Dan Aykroyd and Ivan Reitman are consulting with the writers.

Ramis goes on to say through MTV and Digital Spy (who don't give a quote to the source of the story) that:

“Bill Murray is just waiting for the truckload of money to arrive to get him out of his office.”

I'm sure that's a joke...isn't it? Perhaps not, we've known that he's been the sticking point for the new film for ages, and it looks like he still is, especially when you hear that Ramis hasn't even spoken to Bill Murray as yet.

“I haven't talked to him about it. I want to talk to him about it eventually. I think we just need a script, because he's the thorniest of the group.”

Well that will be a bit of a push to get the man involved from the sounds of it, but the hard cash might do it, joking or not. However I think that if they can get this far with a third Ghostbusters and plan to hand over the franchise to a cast anew, they surely could do it without Murray.
