Tron 2.0 story revealed?
So far we haven't heard that much about the plot or story for Tron 2 aka Tr2n aka Tron 2.0, all we've really heard, or rather seen, is that teaser trailer. Now though, if the usual sources are to be believed, we have some information leaking out about the film, and in fact tons about the plot and story set-up.
I've read it and I'm thinking that it sounds rather cool, and that they haven't just taken the original idea and either tried just to remake it or blow it out of all proportion with CGI galore. No, this seems to be restrained and in the original spirit.
Like the other reveal story today, you are about to read this and it might spoil the film for you. However also bear in mind that it's a "source" and the story could well be bogus, just made up to see how many people would carry it and who would fall for it.
Personally I'm close to falling for it, but I rarely believe sources. Mind you it's about the time in the production that this kind of information would be leaking out. So let's onto Tron 2.
AICN had a reveal from a scooper who said some interesting things that could well be true about Tron 2. Let me quote a few and leave the rest for AICN.
"The movie starts in 1989. Kevin Flynn (Bridges) has created some of the world's top selling games based on his Game Grid challenges in the first film, and has marketed the hell out of what he saw there..."
Now here's where it started to lose me, so the main film is supposed to be set about twenty-five years later, but heads back a little so we see that Kevin Flynn (played by Jeff Bridges) has become successful thanks to his time inside the computer and what he saw. He has a seven year old son - yes, I started to waver, oh no I thought, here we go with the son doing the same journey, etc.
Anyway, the story is that Flynn disappears, kid grows up, and meanwhile Alan Bradley (played by Bruce Boxleitner) takes over the company to run it for Flynn while he's missing.
When Sean Flynn becomes twenty Bradley tells him some things that send him off to his Dad's old arcade where he finds that arcade game, starts playing and he's sucked right in.
Then we're back in the computer world and the Flynn has rewritten the control program to make the computer world a better place, except it's gone corrupt and is creating his own very askew version of a "better world".
For the rest I'd suggest heading over to AICN, I don't want to copy their entire scoop, if their "source" is real, and I'm always very dubious of these things. However if you aren't then head over for the rest, including the reveal that they'll have Light Jets as well as Light Cycles.
Yeah, that was probably a step too far for me. After reading that I did suddenly wonder if this was all really true or someone trying to sucker us into it. Me? I'm heading for this turning out to be false, or at least I hope it is, because Light Jets fighting Light Cycles just isn't going to work for me. Why not have massive Light Transformers?
No, I have to admit the more I think about that, the more I think the story is false, or very twisted from the reality of the script. What do you think? Do you think that's anywhere near the truth?
