Clash of the Titans gains cast
The remake of the classic Clash of the Titans looks set to receive a couple more names for the casting, and there's also a little peak at the plot for the new film.
Gemma Arterton already revealed a little about it when we heard of her role the other day, but there's more coming out as we hear that Mads Mikkelsen and Alexa Davalos are signing up to the film.
Clash of the Titans was a classic film and I really do struggle with the idea of a remake, on the one hand it's ripe for the remaking and it's not just the effects that could be updated, and on the other the original has a very fond place in my heart.
I do think I'm erring on the side of a remake though, and that's unusual for me.
Word from The Hollywood Reporter is that Mads Mikkelsen, Gemma Arterton and Alexa Davalos are all joining Sam Worthington on the new Clash of the Titans film where Worthington is already set to play the lead Perseus.
Arterton's role is confirmed as a demi-goddess called Io who delivers the winged horse Pegasus to Perseus. Speaking in an earlier story she already revealed that Perseus falls in love with her character and...well, she wouldn't say any more. Actually she would but it was censored as a spoiler.
Mikkelsen's role is confirmed though, he's playing Draco, a fighter and leader of the Praetorian Guard who joins Perseus on his quest while Davalos is playing Princess Andromeda, the role everyone thought that Arterton would be playing.
I have to admit that sounds like a great line up already, and I'm wondering if they can't better the original. The plot has changed a little as the ante seems to be upped a little, the article reveals that the plot is:
“...Perseus, who is put on a quest to save a princess and defeat Hades, the god of hell.”
He's off to defeat Hades? That's quite a feat and a lot more than the original, although you could say he was defeating the gods in the original film, but he wasn't totally aware that he was doing that, just killing huge monsters and having a whale a of an adventure on the way.
I'm keen to see some more of this now, and hear more of the casting. Could this remake really pull it off?
