Has the plot for Ghostbusters been revealed? Well not the plot but the set-up behind it, and like most Hollywood sequels, remakes and re-whatevers, they've gone for the basic ingredient, the multiplier – make it bigger, times whatever.

Dan Aykroyd has been talking about the film and managing to deflate it even more for me in just a few short sentences. I'm really concerned now that this is going to be far from the Ghostbusters film I, and many others, really want to see.

We know that the project to re-team the Ghostbusters is moving along in the guise of Ghostbusters III and we know that the original line-up are going to be there just to hand over the baton to a new team who will take up the franchise and make it live once again, or produce one film and disappear forever.

However Dan Aykroyd has been talking about the film and MTV through Latino Review caught his comments. He said that he's hoping to get Sigourney Weaver in the film when they finally get round to it, and his exact words of hope were:

“I know we’ll make that happen.”

That sounds like a man who is sure of something, however I wouldn't bet on it. He's also sure of how it's all going to get set-up.

“...there will be a whole new generation that has to be trained, and that whole new generation will be led by an individual who you’ll all love when you meet him but I’m not going to tell you anything yet.”

Aha, and in the style of Inspector Clouseau, but you've told us everything! Well actually he hasn't just yet, but he does in the next paragraph, and this is the one where my heart sank.

“They’ll be lots of cadets, boys and girls, who’ll be learning how to use the psychotron, the accelerators and all the new stuff, the neuron splitter, which is going to be the interplaner, interceptor and all these great tools that they’re going to have, to flip from dimension.”

Lot's of boy and girls training to be Ghostbusters? New gadgets and particularly a new car, and they're going to be travelling from one dimension to another?

I wonder if the story is going to be that we see the original team at the start training the kiddies, then they get caught and pulled into another dimension by some big ghost, which leaves the kiddies to use all the new gadgetry to hunt them down and free them for the big finale which sees them hand over the reigns to a younger crew?

Now where have we seen that before Mr Tracey? Ghostbusters 3 are go? Ghostbusters: First Class?
