Gremlins 3 without Dante?

JoeDante.jpgWith remakes and sequels all the rage, what could be next up. Well Jo Dante thinks that Gremlins 3 will probably happen at some stage.

However he doesn't think he'll be involved in it. Not that he thinks this will stop anyone from going ahead anyway.

Gremlins was a great film, and a favourite of mine around Christmas time. I didn't really like the sequel that much though. Now Joe Dante says that although he thinks Gremlins 3 will happen at some stage, he won't be getting a phone call about it. And he cites one of his own films as the reason.

They did that once, they won’t do it again. They made that mistake once. Its a moot point, they won’t be coming to me. I can tell you that for a fact... See Looney Tunes: Back in Action and I think that will explain it. That was not a pleasant experience."

I can't say I have seen Looney Tunes: Back in Action, but I'm guessing it wasn't so good. He doesn't think his lack of involvement will have much bearing on the chances of a third though.

I find it hard to believe that they won’t make a Gremlins 3 because they’re remaking Adventures in Babysitting. I mean, they’re gonna remake everything.

He was talking to Bloody Disgusting. I can't really see the point of a third Gremlins film. But that hasn't stopped anyone making sequels before. Would CGI Gremlins have the same charm as the original puppets? Would you like to see a third one after all this time?
