Inglourious Basterds footage and behind the scenes
The internet is all excited with the new footage from Quentin Tarantino's Inglourious Basterds which was shown on American Idol last night, because the people who watch Idol also watch Tarantino Nazi killer films...ermm...yes.
Anyway there's footage from the film and some behind the scenes shots, and I have to say the opening threw me for six, in totally the wrong direction. Is this a full on comedy?
That's exactly what I thought after I saw the face of the man with the upper class English officer accent, Mike Myers in make-up with a silly voice looks like Mike Myers in make-up with a silly voice on the set of Austin Powers, no matter how you cut it. So that's the tone I got as the clip moved on, and it's probably not the tone that's intended for the clip or the film. Well I hope it isn't.
So wrong tone and bad choice aside then we leap to Brad Pitt who I hear has the same accent as he always has, and that bugged me having seen two Pitt films this week. Anyway, that's just a minor personal niggle, let's talk about what footage we really saw from the film.
Good war footage with a few almost over the top firing/explosion scenes. Yeah, Inglourious Basterds could turn out to be better than I thought, could it be the modern Dirty Dozen?
