Sin City 2 still with Weinstein

SinCity_Poster.jpgAh the rumour turned out to be false, the Weinstein Company still have the rights for the film according to a lawyer at the Weinstein Company, and with that announcement comes nothing for the fans, for the film audience still desperately waiting for another Sin City film, just another dry business statement.

Typical of Hollywood. Use the fans and the internet to market film when it suits them, otherwise it doesn't matter, just make sure they have the business side sorted out. It's all about the money, not about the film or the fans.

You'll remember that the other day I wrote the story that the Weinstein's had let the rights slip on Sin City 2 and a private group were going to pick it up and finally make the film. That now seems to be a rumour and nothing more as the statement from their lawyer reads:

"TWC's rights to produce sequels to Sin City remain intact as they always have been. Any suggestion to the contrary is complete hogwash."

Which comes from the lawyers of The Weinstein Company through MTV and Coming Soon.

You know they could have put in something to reassure fans that something is happening with the project, or to tell us all it's on hold while the two names behind it are doing their other projects, anything other than "no, it's mine!" and then go quiet.

I just wish they could give us something about the project other than nothing, rumours and posturing. What the hell is happening with Sin City? To me it seems like nothing, and nothing fast.
