Iron Man 2 gets a couple of big names added to the cast...
Updated: ...or maybe not!

Christopher Nolan's next film Inception gets some big cast names...

Mark Bomback is adapting the comic Umbrella Academy...

Mike Newell is directing Box of Delights...

You'll have seen some of the videos of people walking about from somewhere around the Iron Man 2 set, really, really exciting stuff (that's sarcasm by the way), well there are a couple of big names associated with the film that are pretty interesting, Gary Oldman and Gary Shandling. Shandling is playing Senator Stern but there's no word yet on who Oldman would be playing. The news comes from IESB.

Update: Seems as though the Gary Oldman rumour has been debunked, perhaps that video of him on set wasn't taken on Iron Man 2 at all? Frankly any of them could have been taken anywhere. Oldman's manager has claimed that he has nothing to do with the film and has not been on set at all.

Michael Caine is being rumoured to join the cast of Christopher Nolan's film Inception for which Leonardo DiCaprio, Cillian Murphy, Ellen Page and Marion Cotillard are already signed up. The film has a very short and intriguing blurb - a contemporary science fiction thriller within the architecture of the mind. Speaking to MTV Michael Caine said that he may well have a part in the film and he'll know later this week.

Mark Bomback is going to adapt The Umbrella Academy for film, the Dark Horse comic tells the story of a group of disbanded superheroes who reunite after the man who brought them together and trained them dies. The man was Sir Reginald Hargreeves, an alien disguised as as a human, brought together the humans when they were young and trained them to save the world, and now after his death they're going to do just that. Bomback also wrote Constantine (Filmstalker review) and Live Free or Die Hard (Filmstalker review). Sounds an interesting idea, and a good pick for a writer. The story comes from The Hollywood Reporter.

Mike Newell is going to direct Box of Delights, a 1930's children's novel about a boy that is given a magical box that allows him to travel through time. Frank Cottrell Boyce is adapting the story according to Variety, Boyce has a huge and exciting screen writing career and so this story sounds very promising, especially with Newell directing.
