Alan Partridge film
I've heard talk of the idea of an Alan Partridge film before, but Steve Coogan has been talking and revealed that indeed he's planning to make a film about the chat show character - "Knowing Me, Knowing You, Aha."
Considering Sacha Baron Cohen has been bringing his television show characters to life on the big screen with varied success, you would think that Coogan would have been quicker to exploit his most known character, but it still seems some way off.
Alan Partridge is Steve Coogan's funniest creation, that's not just my opinion, that's official, and although Coogan has had success in film since, we've never really been treated to the delight of his character on screen.
Beginning as a character in his stand up show, he soon created his own television series and Partridge was becoming somewhat of a sensation. The character started with his own radio show and progressed to a television chat show, however the big problem was he was totally inept and rather stupid, and a complete disaster when interviewing celebrities.
There's no word on what a film version would bring, but speaking to BBC Radio 1 through /Film and First Showing, he said:
"We are planning on making a movie. We're talking at the moment. What it is we're not quite sure. But yes, there are plans afoot to make a film."
To be honest I remember hearing about plans for an Alan Partridge film a long time ago, but since then there's been nothing. I wonder if that's still the same situation or if they are any further forward than speculation and trying to get someone to back a film?
Would you be interested in an Alan Partridge film and more from Steve Coogan?
