New Tomb Raider to be a prequel

TombRaider.jpgEarlier this year we heard that the Tomb Raider series was being rebooted. Now we have a little bit of news about what we can expect from the new series.

Looks like we will be going back the way, and seeing a Tomb Raider origins film.

In January it was announced that the Tomb Raider franchise was getting a makeover. Paramount now has the rights to the films, and along with producer Dan Lin, they were aiming for a film that doesn't have much in common with the previous two.

Now Daniel Lin has given a small update on what they are thinking about. This from Jo Blo.

It's a great origin story that we're going to tell. A very character-oriented story. I would say more realistic than the past Lara Croft movies...I would say it's like Terminator - character-driven action. I think for me the Lara Croft games and movies have gone a little too action-oriented. I wanted to have action, but with character.

Having played at least one of the games from start to finish, I wouldn't say they were particuarly based in reality in the first place. However it does look we will be seeing a much younger actress in the role of Lara Croft. And finding out what made her become who she is.

Are you interested in a Tomb Raider origins film? Who would you like to replace Angelina Jolie?
