Reynolds on Deadpool film

Deadpool.jpgRyan Reynolds has given a small update on the Deadpool spin off film. Not many of us would be particularly surprised at the news of the film, after his appearance in the Wolverine film.

Looks like the Deadpool film is still looking for a finished script, but Reynolds says he is involved.

X-Men Origins Wolverine was a bit of an ensemble of X-Men characters. Sabretooth, Deadpool and Gambit to name a few. Looks like Magneto won't be the only one getting his own film, as news of the Deadpool spin off came not long ago.

Ryan Reynolds will be reprising his role. And it sounds like it's still in the early stages.

Look, I'm into any role in which I get to kick Captain America in the nuts,...Yeah, it's in the works. That's about all I can really say. They're actively hashing [it] out. I'm meeting with them all the time. We're in constant contact, and it's just a matter of breaking the spine of the story and figuring out what it is and who's the villain.

I had only vaguely heard of Deadpool before I watched X-Men Origins: Wolverine. The character didn't overly interest me, even with his later transformation. But what I've read of the original Deadpool character, does interest me a lot. Problem is, I don't think that's the one we'll see. It'll probably be a watered down, child friendly version, much like Wolverine was. Let's hope it gets a better script than Wolverine had.

Do you think Deadpool is a big enough character to warrant his own spin off? Are they diluting X-Men with all these origin films?
