Marisa Tomei and Liv Tyler are joining the psychological thriller called 10A/10B according to Variety. The film is from South Korean director Chul-soo Park and is a remake of his own 1995 film 301/302. Oh joy, another remake, however at least this one is from the original director. The film looks at the relationship between two people who become neighbours in a loft apartment, a culinary perfectionist and an actress with a failing career.

Jessica Szohr and Jerry O'Connell have joined Piranha 3D according to AITH through Entertainment Weekly and...AITH. The cast for Alexandra Aja's remake is growing and growing, and I'm struggling to believe this is going to be as big as the growing list suggests. Here's the full blurb for the film:

“...lots and lots of jaws. From acclaimed director Alexandre Aja (The Hills Have Eyes) comes the new action thriller PIRANHA 3D, in the latest eye-popping 3D technology. A new type of terror is about to be cut loose on beautiful Lake Victoria. After a sudden underwater tremor sets free scores of the prehistoric man-eating fish, an unlikely group of strangers must band together to stop themselves from becoming fish food for the area’s new razor-toothed residents. But our heroine (Elisabeth Shue) is seriously outnumbered, and with only one chance to save the lake and her family from totally being devoured, she must risk everything to destroy the aquatic carnivores herself.”

James McAvoy, Elizabeth Banks, Laura Linney and Anna Friel have joined a black comedy called The Details written and directed by Jacob Estes. The story is about a couple, played by Banks and McAvoy, who discover an infestation of raccoons in their back yard, and as they try to deal with them arguments and catastrophes occur. Doesn't sound that exciting to me, but the cast promise something different. Variety

Katie Holmes has joined Don't Be Afraid of the Dark a film written by Guillermo del Toro and Matthew Robbins. The film is to be directed by Troy Nixey, a protege of del Toro's. The film is based on a 1973 television film about a young girl who moves in with her father and his girlfriend to discover that they are sharing the house with some terrible creatures. The story comes from Variety.

Dwayne Johnson is to return to action films and leave the kiddies behind, at least we can hope that he's leaving the kiddies films behind. The film is being directed by Phil Joanou from a script by Joe and Tony Gayton. Joanou directed the Johnson starrer Gridiron Gang. He'll be playing a man who gets out of jail after ten years to avenge the death of his brother who was murdered during a heist they were carrying out and were double crossed on. Sounds good, and a welcome return for him. The story comes from Variety.

Robert De Niro and Edward Norton are to star together in a psychological thriller called Stone which will be directed by John Curran and written by Angus MacLachlan. The story is about a correctional officer, played by De Niro, who is seduced by the wife of a convicted arsonist, played by Norton, who happens to be up for parole. Nice. The story comes from Variety.

Rachel Weisz is to star in Whistleblower, based on the true story of Kathryn Bolkovac, a female police officer from Nebraska who worked as a peacekeeper in post-war Bosnia and exposes a UN cover up of sex trafficking. I'm not sure how much of that is actually true, but the story sounds interesting. Larysa Kondracki is directing from a script by herself and Eilis Kirwan. The story comes from Variety.

Ray Stevenson, Christopher Walken and Val Kilmer have joined the film The Irishman. The film is about the real life mobster called Danny Greene, played by Stevenson who fought with the Mafia in Cleveland in the 1970's and ended up causing a countrywide turf war that hit the mafia hard. Jonathan Hensleigh co-wrote the story with Jeremy Walters and will direct, the script is adapted from the book To Kill the Irishman: The War That Crippled the Mafia by Rick Porrello. Sounds like a powerful film with a strong cast. The story from The Hollywood Reporter.

Christopher Nolan's Inception has just gained Ken Watanabe and Tom Hardy. That is adding up to be one huge case. The story from The Hollywood Reporter.

Hey, we already knew all about The Mechanic remake with Jason Statham. Thanks anyway Variety.
