Van Diemen's Land trailer online

VanDiemensLand.jpgThere's a trailer online for a film called Van Diemen's Land, yes I hadn't heard of it either, but don't let that stop you from seeing a superb teaser trailer, in fact I would suggest ignoring everything else and going straight for this little beauty.

The film follows the true story from 1822 where Alexander Pearce, Australia's most notorious convict and seven other convicts escaped from Macquarie Harbour, the ultimate in prisons of the time, and once out of the prison they find that the environment around them is even more harsh and dangerous, the Australian wilderness.

Seems a great concept, and the teaser trailer just looks superb, I was really taken by it from the opening scene, and that closing shot, wow.

The director of Van Diemen's Land, Jonathan Auf Der Heide, has only directed a short film before, but it shares a lot of the same cast, and could well have been a little test to see if this film could get made. Judging from the teaser trailer below through First Showing and Quiet Earth, I'd say that they've found a cracker.
