Batman 3 might have no Nolan
Christopher Nolan is currently working on Inception, news of which we heard yesterday. However most Batman fans would quite like him to make Batman 3 at some point in the future.
We shouldn't get ahead of ourselves though, as the latest news is it will be a long way off. That's if it happens with Nolan at all.
Since The Dark Knight (Filmstalker review) we have had all kinds of Batman rumours, mostly of the casting variety. And sometimes about whether or not Christopher Nolan would return for a third Batman film. He's been on the film and off the film, and then he moved onto Inception and the Batman news went quiet. Now Batman-on-Film, through Comic Book Movie, say the word is that Warner Bros. have their work cut out to get Nolan to return. The anonymous source we all don't know and love had this to say.
The death of Heath Ledger in January of 2008 rocked Mr. Nolan hard. So hard that Chris was convinced that TDK was going to be it for him and Batman on film.
The plan, as none of us will be surprised to hear, was for The Joker to be the villain in the third film. The death of Heath Ledger has led to Nolan reconsidering what he is going to do. According to the source though, Batman on Film is:
..correct in reporting that (Nolan) is developing story ideas with [Jonathan Nolan] and David Goyer, but it will be until AT LEAST 2012 before we see the Caped Crusader back [in theaters]. And that is only an EARLY ESTIMATE at best right now. They are even saying it might not be until 2013.
So any third Batman film is a ways off. And we have no idea if Christopher Nolan will be a part of it. If he isn't then maybe that will also influence Christian Bale's choice too. Looks like we will be waiting a while for either the completion of Nolan's trilogy, or a new director version with perhaps a new Batman. Which would you prefer?
