Cameron joins Heavy Metal
James Cameron is seemingly joining Heavy Metal as one of the segment directors according to an interview with Kevin Eastman, current owner and publisher of the comic.
Already we heard that Zack Snyder, Gore Verbinski and David Fincher were set to direct a segment each for the film, so this latest announcement is a huge addition to the line-up and is increasing speculation that this could be something very special.
Heavy Metal magazine is primarily known for mixing science fiction and fantasy together in a darker style with a healthy does of erotica. The comic has quite a following, and the fact that there are already three great directors on board the project reflects that.
"I’ve got breaking news that Fincher and James Cameron are going to be Co-Executive Producers on the film. Fincher will direct one. Cameron will direct one. Zack Snyder is going to direct one and Gore Verbinski is going to. Mark Osborne and Jack Black from Tenacious D are going to do a comedy segment for the film. Three other directors have agreed but we haven’t signed them, but they’re equally as jaw-dropping. So we’re on cloud nine to be working with such an amazing amount of talent."
That is a huge amount of talent behind the segments, although there are some huge directors there and some not so huge, but that'll make for an interesting line up of segments within the film, you can't really expect them to keep signing the best directors in the business can you?
Heavy Metal is already sounding superb, and we haven't heard anything about the script or actors yet, so far it's all about the directors.
