Update: The Box trailer online in high definition

TheBox.jpgThe first trailer for The Box is online. It stars Cameron Diaz and James Marsden, as a couple who receive a strange offer to solve their financial woes.

Kind of a supernatural thriller/Indecent Proposal for the credit crunch generation.

Cameron Diaz and James Marsden star in The Box, directed by Richard Kelly. They are a couple who face redundancy and money worries. Then they receive a mystery box, which lands outside their house. And a visit from a man, who says that if they push the button on the box, they will receive $1 million. Only problem being, that someone who they don't know will die.

Who is the strange guy, with the even stranger proposal? What will happen if they don't do it? And how come he has people every where? I know I'm interested after watching the trailer below. Take a look and see what you think.

Update: The trailer is now online in multiple formats including high definition on Apple Trailers [P:S:M:L:480p:720p:1080p]

Oooh, that looks good!

I've been waiting for a trailer to this film for a while now. Looks like it could actually be quite good. The 'Saw' music towards the end ruined it for me though. That music is so recognizable now that it just makes the film look like it's copying and of a less quality. They'd might as well used the Star Wars theme.

same was it for me. every thriller/suspense movie uses the saw theme over and over again. it just sucks :/

besides that: movie looks nice, i will give it a chance.

I've been looking forward to this. I was a bit suprised that it looks like an action/thriller movie towards the end with the leads running away from the bad guys with guns. I was very interested in the fleeting shots of a woman seemingly manipulating water.

I haven't got audio so will have to watch it again later. Could anyone give me any further insight on what is actually happening who could listen to it?

Anyone think that Cameron looks a little, well.. rough? Not liking her appearance at all, maybe its the hair..

Oh and I also heard a while ago that Arcade Fire were going to be creating the soundtrack for this movie. I hope that its still true!

Some new library music is required I think!

Michelle, the basic jist, is that the couple have financial worries. And the guy is about to lose his job, meaning they may have to sell their house and move. Then arrives the mysterious box on their doorstep. Followed by a guy, who says that if they push the button inside, they will receive $1million. But if they do, someone they don't know will die.

After that it kind of becomes about who the guy is, and can they find out. Will the police help etc. But a fair few people seem to be in on the act. And the guy is basically told that he doesn't have much of a choice about whether they push the button or not. Will leave the rest for when you can watch it!

I've been looking forward to this for awhile. The short story is really good as is the Twilight Zone episode from the '80s. If you haven't seen the episode of the Twilight Zone it can be found on youtube.

I'm not sure the trailer really excites me though, in fact it has kind of mellowed my excitement for the film. It just doesn't look very good to me. All the actiony running and chasing just seems to be a bit much to me. Of course, they could just be playing that up in the trailer for marketing purposes.

I think I will still see it but I don't think I am really expecting much.
