Cronenberg delays Matarese Circle?
An announcement today reveals that, at the very least, the Robert Ludlum thriller The Matarese Circle is going to be delayed, or at the very most, they're looking for a new director.
For David Cronenberg's next film will be Cosmopolis, the adaptation of the Don DeLillo novel (Amazon.co.uk / Amazon.com) of the same name, and that looks like it's going to be bumping out The Matarese Circle.
Looking at the times that The Hollywood Reporter gives us for the production it does seem as though it would clash with the previously announced film of The Matarese Circle. There's no word yet whether this means that the director is off the project or if the project will just be delayed until after this film, we'll have to wait and see.
Cosmopolis is the thirteenth novel from the writer, an interesting number to pick fo the adaptation, and tells the story of a self-made millionaire heading across Manhattan for a haircut one day.
Doesn't sound that much does it? Well there's much more. Along the journey he experiences many important events happening in the city that day, and in his own life, through all forms of modern day technology.
The write-up it receives makes for an interesting read, and suggests that the film will follow the main character in his journey while bringing in all these side stories from his own life and the world around him to make a strong commentary on the world that we're all living in these days.
I'd say that this looks far more interesting for David Cronenberg than The Matarese Circle don't you think?
