Crowe for Master and Commander sequel

RussellCrowe.jpgRussell Crowe is in negotiations for another Master and Commander film, and has revealed that a script has been written from another of the twenty novels in the Patrick O'Brian written series.

Of course discussions are at a very early stage and I do wonder if Crowe was supposed to speak out about it, but it's a good marketing move to build early buzz, or to lever his position, am I cynical?

Russell Crowe was speaking at the England versus Australia cricket match this week and Associated Press through USA Today had his comments:

"There's still a long way to go..."

Yes, that was the extended reveal he gave, although he did talk about more. He said that talks are happening with the owner of the novels right now. I guess that's a bit of a liberty then that they've written a script already.

The script is adapted from the eleventh book in the series called The Reverse of the Medal (Amazon.co.uk / Amazon.com) which sees most of the action take place on land,

“Returning from South America, Jack Aubrey finds himself led into the half worlds of the London criminal underground in this most unconventional of Patrick O'Brian's lauded naval tales."

Of course this all hinges on the rights being given for the film to continue, but considering Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World do you really think that it's in any doubt? I wonder if we'll see the return of any other cast members? Does anyone know the book?

Hope this happens. The first one was fantastic.

I agree with Mark, I loved the first one too.

Agreed, Master and Commander: the Far Side of the World. By far is an epic Sea Battle movie.
It was a well scripted and cinematography was awesome.
I do hope the sequel, enlightens us to the disposition of the Acheron. Being that the sequel will take place with most of the action on land, then there should be a need for many extras Napoleonic reenactors.
Maybe a good chance to be in movies?
Lets hope so. Looking forward to the sequel
