Harry Potter star for Manson's Cinderella?
I'm a little confused by this rumour, and let me heave the word rumour on there like a huge brick considering the sources it comes from, but it's an interesting one none the less.
Apparently Emma Watson is in line to play a princess in a film from the rather unique rock star turned writer\director Marilyn Manson which will be based on the traditional story of Cinderella.
The rumour has it that Emma Watson, star of the Harry Potter series, is set to join an as yet untitled film from Marilyn Manson which will apparently be a goth-inspired retelling of the story of Cinderella.
While Manson is most known for his outspoken views, his strong and outspoken music, and for being hounded by the press, he's not that known for his writing and directing talents, something that film Phantasmagoria: The Visions of Lewis Carroll will perhaps put to rights.
That film tells the story of the Victorian author Lewis Carroll who lives by himself in a castle and begins to have visions of a girl called Alice. Each night some new nightmare appears to him and he writes the stories down. Marilyn Manson himself is set to play the part of Lewis Carroll.
If this story is true, and I use a big “if” considering that the rumour comes from The Sun through Digital Spy (who don't credit the source as usual but I found the link for you) and has no confirmed source for the rumour what so ever, then it's going to mark a huge departure for Emma Watson.
A bit like Daniel Radcliffe taking to the stage and removing his clothes to play a rather unhinged character who likes to be close to horses, Watson would be stepping out of her comfort zone and choosing a project deliberately far from what she is used to with the Potter films.
It could be a superb move, but then with Manson being a little unproven in the feature film department, it all depends on how that first film of his plays out.
Remember though that this is wild rumour for now and we'll await some more concrete sources, especially considering the "newspaper" says Manson is a "drug guzzling shock rocker" who is interested in "poisoning young people's minds". In the meantime though it's a damn interesting thought isn't it? Not the poisoning young minds, but that of Emma Watson joining the film.
