Jackson kills Hobbit rumours

PeterJackson.jpgPeter Jackson has already been talking about the rumours of who is going to be cast in The Hobbit films and he's been quick to point out that they're not going to be announcing any casting as they haven't even started thinking about it.

Well there you go, I said it was a crazy rumour and it turned out to be just that, more from those crazy newspapers, they're just full of them!

Peter Jackson was talking about the rumours written about in a story just earlier today.

”No, we won’t be announcing Bilbo for a little while...We’re starting to think about casting, but we’re knee-deep in the script right now. And when we do go to actors, they’re probably going to ask to see a script, so we’re powering ahead with getting the first draft done.”

That story comes through Empire.

I think I lose track of the number of times that I talk about the order of these things and that there's more often than not no casting until they have a script, but the rumour raised by the newspapers suggested otherwise.

Still, there are a couple of interesting choices in there, particularly that of James McAvoy, and if it wasn't for the fact that he appeared as a fantasy character in The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe I'd say he's a direct shoe in. What do you think? Get voting on the poll.

Of course remember that there's nothing official and that's from Peter Jackson's mouth, but at least we can speculate on the lead for The Hobbit.
