Kurt Russell for Red Dawn?

KurtRussell.jpgKurt Russell is talking about joining the remake of Red Dawn, a move that if it did happen would elevate my desire to see the film, a film I still don't understand how it'll work considering the might of the Soviet Union from the eighties is far from the enemy it was, and the ability of any nation to invade the United States by land is somewhat limited.

One answer to that is to pull in the tactical use of nuclear weapons, that would certainly make it a lot more feasible, I'm not sure. However the news that Kurt Russell may be in the film is a good one.

My only concern is that he's going to be a background character, after all this is all about the younger actors fighting the trained soldiers. Still, it's Kurt Russell.

The news comes from Coming Soon that Russell is in talks for the film, something they heard over at the Comic-Con shenanigans, and if it's true then we'll see him joining Chris Hemsworth, Josh Peck and Adrianne Palicki in the remake by director Dan Bradley and a number of writers through various different scripts.

Patrick Swayze, Charlie Sheen, C. Thomas Howell, Darren Dalton, Jennifer Grey and of course Lea Thompson all lead the original line-up who fought against the invading Russians.

It would have been great to get a name or two from that list back in the film as the older characters, although the idea of Kurt Russell taking up a role does blow that out of the water for me, unless they secured Patrick Swayze.
