Pirates of the Caribbean 4 details
It appears that the fourth Pirates of the Caribbean is going to be going ahead and that's without Gore Verbinski and with word that this will be a new trilogy that will concentrate on a core of characters, obviously to bring the costs down.
However it does seem like Captain Jack Sparrow will be back, and the filming for this fourth episode, and start of a new franchise, begins next year.
Speaking about the film Disney's Head of Production Oren Aviv revealed all at Comic-Con:
"We're going to shoot 'Pirates 4' in April and May of next year...We are going to release it hopefully in 2011 is the plan." He said that this time they would only be doing one movie this time that would "hopefully be the first of another trilogy."
We already heard that there was a script under way and that there were plans to make this fourth film more about Captain Jack Sparrow, dropping a number of the cast members that we've become used to, so this news through Coming Soon and Filmonic is definite confirmation that it's going ahead.
What's more is that the reboot may not include many of the main characters, we know that both Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley have talked about not returning, but that both Geoffrey Rush and Johnny Depp have talked about their desire to return, however there's no real indication of the character list apart from Sparrow of course.
Will a new trilogy work with a much lighter cast? Will it not lack something without the comedy and drama of the multiple plot lines and comic asides?
I do wonder if they should just have stopped where they stopped and gone no further. I guess the chances are though this next film will be in 3D!
