Saw to Abattoir: Darren Lynn Bousman is now set to direct Abattoir...
Darren Lynn Bousman is going to write and direct a film called Abattoir according to Variety, who are also quick to point out:

"Abattoir - the French word for slaughterhouse"

It tells the story of a real estate agent who has to clean up the after effects of a massacre that took place in a mansion which he hopes to then sell on. During his clean up he's visited by an old man who draws him into a web of intrigue and murders.

Black Sabbath film: The Black Sabbath horror franchise is being challenged by Ozzy Osbourne...
While the story from The Hollywood Reporter is really about Mike Fleiss' production company it does reveal that they are trying to make a horror film franchise called Black Sabbath but Ozzy Osbourne is taking them to court to try and stop them using the name, well actually to gain a fifty percent stake in the project.

Meanwhile Tony Iommi, a founding member of the heavy metal band, is the one who has signed the deal and apparently has sole rights to the name, so what Osbourne is doing I don't really know. Iommi is also scoring the films. They won't be about Black Sabbath the band, but that is apparently the starting point of the franchise.

The Colony: Orphan writer on The Colony...
David Leslie Johnson, who wrote Orphan, is set to write The Colony which is based on an idea by Stacy Title and Jonathan Penner and is described as The Birds with bugs by Variety. Vertigo are producing, you'll know them more for their Hollywood-Asia adaptations.

Badass: British director on 80's action homage Badass...
British director Phil Claydon is set to direct Dan Mintner: Badass for Hire which will be a comedy with a big homage to the 1980's action thrillers along the lines of Sylvester Stallone's Cobra. It focuses on a character who chews a matchstick, now that'll say something already, wears tight jeans, and is stuck in a 1980's mentality all the time fighting modern day bad guys.

Claydon previously directed Lesbian Vampire Killers, a film that The Hollywood Reporter says has gained a cult following in England, perhaps that's true, but not up here in Scotland! One of the producers said of Claydon:

"...after actually seeing it, we knew he was the man to kick ass on 'Dan Mintner.' Plus his film had our two favorite things in cinema: vampires and lesbians."

Okay. Much as a like the title, I'm not sure they've really gauged the love for the director's first film.

Sacred Prey: A clever hitman film...
Brad Ingelsby, according to The Hollywood Reporter, is adapting Vivian Schilling's novel Sacred Prey (Amazon.co.uk / Amazon.com) which follows a loan shark who kills a man he believes has duped him, only to wake up and find himself in the body of the very man he killed three days before he's murdered by himself. With me? Sounds superb.

The Hunted: The Hunted gains down director...
Kaare Andrews is to direct the action film The Hunted based on his own screenplay which tells the story of an assassin in his twenties who is hired to kill a young girl but refuses to complete the contract according to The Hollywood Reprter.
