Clifton Collins Jr., a rather odd looking actor, has signed up for the remake of the excellent German film Das Experiment, The Experiment. The film already stars Adrien Brody, Forest Whitaker, Cam Gigandet and Elijah Wood. The original was superb and recreated the story of the Stanford Prison Experiment where a group of ordinary men were divided between prisoners and guards and assigned roles and tasks. It was mere days before the real life experiment had to be stopped as the men were taking their roles too far and becoming aggressive and dangerous to each other. The film looks set to recreate it and take the story a little further. The news comes from Bloody Disgusting.

Raja Gosnell is going to be directing the mixed animated and live action The Smurfs film according to Variety. The film will be released in both standard format and 3D. Gosnell directed Home Alone 3 and Beverly Hills Chihuahua and the two Scooby-Doo films, so consider yourself warned.

According to The Hollywood Reporter tells us that Rosamund Pike, Minnie Driver and Rachelle Lefevre are playing Paul Giamatti's many wives in Barney's Version. The film is an adaptation of the novel (Amazon.co.uk

) by Mordecai Richler which tells the story of the politically incorrect life of the impulsive, blunt and fearless Barney Panofsky.

Nightmare on Elm Street has finished shooting according to producer Brad Fuller through ShockTillYouDrop.

Zooey Deschanel is joining the cast of Your Highness, a comedy from David Gordon Green that, according to The Hollywood Reporter begins shooting this month in Northern Ireland. It tells the story of an arrogant and lazy prince who has to complete a quest in order to save his father's kingdom. The prince is played by Danny McBride and his far more heroic brother is played by James Franco. Deschanel will play Belladona, the bride of Franco's character and Natalie Portman is a warrior princess and McBride's love interest.
