Watchmen deleted scene online

Watchmen_Poster.jpgThere's a deleted scene from Watchmen online to advertise the director's cut of the film released on DVD, and the scene looks superb. It's dripping with smooth cuts and references to the past of Watchmen and is an utterly wonderful scene to watch.

I love this and think that it is one of those deleted scenes that truly does enhance a film. The scene shows us Hollis Mason's death, the original Nite Owl, a rich sequence of glorious flashbacks, and also a glimpse of that animated tale The Black Freighter which will also be in the final cut.

The Tales of the Black Freighter only appears at the beginning of the Watchmen clip in comic for, but you can see the style it's going to take from those frames that are displayed for a few moments before the actual scene begins.

When the scene does begin I was curious to wonder if I recognised the leader of the gang, the man who kills Nite Owl, see if you think you know who that is. It's only now clicked with me that Stephen McHattie is Nite Owl, the lead of Pontypool (Filmstalker review).

It's a fantastic scene, and the conversation on the phone together with the cuts of all the memorabilia is good enough, but then the flashbacks during the fight is superbly choreographed.

On the strength of this scene alone I'm dying to see the Director's Cut, see what you think.
