There's a brand new trailer for Astro Boy online and it's looking like a lot of fun, mixing comedy with action and a little spoonful of serious, and we get an interesting combination.

The film tells the story of a robot who is built by a brilliant scientist, given incredible powers and self awareness, and let loose on a futuristic world. Before long the military are hunting him and the Earth is in peril from an invader that only Astro Boy can deter.

The full blurb for Astro Boy gives us a little more:

Set in futuristic Metro City, Astro Boy is about a young robot with incredible powers created by a brilliant scientist in the image of the son he has lost. Unable to fulfill the grieving man's expectations, our hero embarks on a journey in search of acceptance, experiencing betrayal and a netherworld of robot gladiators, before he returns to save Metro City and reconcile with the father who had rejected him.

Then there's just the big name voice list to read through with names from Nicolas Cage to Kristen Bell with Samuel L. Jackson, Bill Nighy, Donald Sutherland, Charlize Theron, and many more on the way. It's bound to sound good, and from the trailer it looks good too. A bit more than just fun though?
