Extract trailer online
The new trailer for Extract is a little confusing, it manages to get the main story across and hint at some great moments, but I find it choppy and far too concentrated on pulling in all the comic moments it can, particularly the drug related ones.
The film comes from Mike Judge and tells the story of a man who is about to sell his very successful flavour extract company when a freak workplace accident put his entire personal and business life on the brink of collapse.
Of course it's obvious how the film is going to play out, but it does seem like an interesting journey when the trailer begins.
First up, here's the trailer for the film which is also over at Apple Trailers [P:S:M:L:480p:720p:1080p]:
Extract stars Jason Bateman, Mila Kunis, Kristen Wiig, Ben Affleck, J.K. Simmons, Clifton Collins Jr., David Koechner, Javier Gutiérrez and even Gene Simmons. However the focus of the trailer seems to be, apart from Bateman, on the long haired Ben Affleck.
Look, it's Ben Affleck again, and he's giving drugs to the guy. Oh look, he's gotten it wrong and given him the wrong ones. Oh look, he's giving him more drugs and...
These scenes did seem to be made quite a deal of in the trailer, when the real concentration would seem to be needed on the collapse of his life, something that you get the hint of in the trailer but passes you by otherwise.
Some scenes are cut too quickly, and there's not a sense of who many of these characters are, or what their relationship is to the lead, and so it becomes a collection of quick fire images and lines.
I think this could have been much, much better if they'd concentrated on the scenes like Gene Simmons explaining how to get out of the case for free, or the escalation of problems in the lead character's life, and who some of these pop-up characters are, rather than just showing us the actor and proving that there are some big names in here.
Let's face it, I think the poster says it all.
