Hurt Locker team on Triple Frontier

KathrynBigelow.jpgWhen you watch The Hurt Locker (Filmstalker review) you'll know why I'm excited that Kathryn Bigelow and Mark Boal are teaming up again on a film called Triple Frontier. Boal was the writer and Bigelow the director behind The Hurt Locker and it's a superb film, well worthy of the two working together again.

What's more is the high level buzz-line for the new project which has been revealed today, a line which describes the film as a high-stakes ensemble project. I don't know if that is to suggest the project is high-stakes or the film story, either way it sounds exciting.

Triple Frontier is being kept quite for now with the plot remaining a secret. What we do know is that the script is coming from Mark Boal and Kathryn Bigelow will direct, both will produce according to Variety, and both sold the idea in the first place.

All we do know is that the story takes place in the notorious border areas between Paraguay, Argentina and Brazil, an area called La Triple Frontera which is described as a haven for organised crime since it is so difficult to patrol and monitor. The US have openly reported that it's a place where terrorist groups, including Hezbollah, and Al Qaeda operate and gain funding.

The story could touch on a period when Paraguay agreed to have some American troops enter their country which has no anti-terrorism laws and, free from any prosecution by agreement, operate with their troops in order to hunt down and bring to justice terrorist operatives.

Sounds an interesting project, especially with the two of them teamed up again, and definitely a film to keep an eye on.
